About Us

Troop 416 was formed in 2000 and serves scouts from Great Meadows, Liberty Township, Mansfield, Hackettstown and the surrounding area. We are sponsored by the Trinity United Methodist Men's Club. We meet almost every Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Members of Troop 416 traveled across the United States, visiting places of interest along the way, before arriving at Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico! You can read more about them by clicking on FILES in the left column, and check out the articles in the PUBLICITY folder. During the same time that the Crew traveled to Philmont and other places, there were 19 other members of the troop attending summer camp at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation's Camp Somers. The troop camps almost every month. Troop 416 also sent a crew to SeaBase in Florida during Christmas break in 2013. Troop 416 serves the community with road cleanups, food drives, and various other activities. Thanks for visiting, and please see our "Contact Us" link for more information!

Troop 416 follows the Methods of Scouting and it is a boy-led troop. Scouts advance at their own pace - it is up to the SCOUT to approach the scoutmaster or an assistant scoutmaster when they feel they are ready to show proficiency in a particular rank requirement and get it "signed off". Leaders do NOT approach scouts to ask THEM if they want to get requirements signed off - if the scout is interested in progressing through the ranks, it is upn to them - they must approach the leaders.
